“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”-Psalm 107:1
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Happy Birthday to me! I am 40 years old. Thank you God! I was frightened on my 30th birthday of turning 40 but I am honestly excited and happy to see what is next. I closed chapter 39 and opened chapter 40 with an epic socially distant virtual celebration. I am going to share some ideas about what worked for me and encourage you to celebrate yourself or/and your loved ones and friends with a safe and virtual celebration. You do not have to subdue your event to achieve the wow factor. Do not allow COVID-19 to prevent you from celebrating yourself or your loved ones and friends.
I streamed my party at a venue and then my family and friends did a drive up. It was fun to have people meet for the first time or people reconnect after years of not seeing one another. The streaming event was an hour and the drive up was afterwards. The event was epic and very safe. Social distancing was maintained and it was beautiful. Thank you to my tribe for supporting me. The weather was excellent. Thank you God for your favor.
Choose a theme: My theme was the scriptures listed above and the colors pink, gold and black. Since my event was a daytime event, I wanted to still have some colors of elegance. You can execute your theme in your invitations, programs and thank you cards as well as your clothing, cake and goodie bag.
Venue: I did not have time to decorate or worry about a venue. So, I decided to hire someone who did everything for me. If you have time to decorations, do it yourself. If you do not, hire someone who knows what they are doing.
Choose a Date: You need to secure a date and send out a save the date before the formal invite. Once I sent out the save the date, I sent out the formal Evite with the location and gift info. I would recommend electronic gifts. We are all on some form of a lockdown but we are still people who have schedules that need to be respected and honored. I would recommend using a site like Evite so you can keep track of your RSVPs. I would also recommend following up with your invitees through texts, email and phone. Everyone does not communicate the same way.
Goodie bags: Your goodie bags should contain the components of the theme and also allow your guests to feel rewarded for coming to see you. My goodie bags were a gold reusable bag that had formal invitations, an event program and thank you cards (All done by Zazzle and proofread by me), food in a reusable container, cake (in the colors pink, black and gold) and eating utensils. I like Zazzle because the formatting is excellent, there is variety and everything arrived to my home. The program listed vendors because everyone will want to know more about the food, venue, clothing, cake and more.
Steaming Segment: My streaming party was quite simple. We had prayer, read scriptures, acknowledgements and played games. I would recommend that you keep it simple and fun. Also, make sure you have excellent wifi or a hotspot. You will need the internet.
Have fun: You deserve to be celebrated. The most important thing is that you show up and have fun. I have not celebrated myself like this in more than 15 years. I realize I am worthy to be celebrated and to enjoy my life. Make sure you have fun and allow the people around you to love and celebrate you.
Let me know if you have any questions about my event or vendors. Also, let me know if you plan to do an event soon. Have fun and remember you should be celebrated.
