Closing Chapter 39 of My Life

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”-Proverbs 19:21

I am on a mini birthday vacation to celebrate my 40th Birthday on Tuesday. I celebrate all month long. Happy Birthday month to my fellow August birthday people! I have no idea where close to 40 years have gone but I am thankful. Last year, I had a subdued celebration anticipating having a huge blowout for my 40th birthday. As we all know 2020 has been a year of COVID-19, Systemic Racism, grief and much more. My personal life has been turbulent and joyful too. I know, that I am standing here today full of so much purpose, joy and gratitude because of God, therapy and my tribe. I know I do not look like I am close to 40 and I thank God for my excellent genes.

I have learned a lot about myself in my 30s. I have elevated my relationship with God. I have learned how to let other people into my life and heart. I have learned how to own up to mistakes and failures. I have allowed myself to go on a journey of peace,  healing and self-discovery. I have learned to remove toxic people, places and things from my life. I learned how to love myself after God fully so I could authentically love others. I have learned how to stand up for myself and others. I have learned to use my voice and platform to better myself and other people. I have accepted God’s calling on my life. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:”

As I embark on turning 40, I look forward to applying all that I have learned. I believe this is the decade where the things I have been dreaming and praying about will become a reality. I look forward to continuing to grow an authentic community of people on this platform. I took a risk more than five years ago joining this site. My life as a writer, proofreader and blogger has been forever changed. Thank you for being on this journey with me. Please let me know how I can be praying for you. I am honored to have you on this journey with me. May God continue to bless and keep you.
