“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”-Psalm 23:1
COVID-19 did not become real to me until I walked into a grocery store and the shelves were empty. I was stunned and sad at the same time. It was not just one or two shelves that were empty. Several shelves were empty and I could not believe my eyes. I decided to take pictures because I wanted to remember how I felt when I saw those shelves. In that moment, I felt very helpless. Then God reminded me of today’s scripture. King David was paying homage to God in Psalm 23, which is a very familiar passage of scripture. I am so thankful the word of God is living. You can read the same scripture thousands of times and get a new revelation each time.
The next time you feel a moment of fear, sadness, anxiety, heartbreak, disappointment or any negative feeling, remember that our heavenly father is our great shepherd and we do not lack anything. I am not a fan of absolutes except when it comes to God. He is the only thing that is 100% guaranteed. I would like you to memorize this scripture and allow it to be in your arsenal of scriptures. When the devil tried to temp Jesus, he responded with the word of God. He said in Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
As we continue to stay healthy and safe during the COVID-19 quarantine, may we remember we lack nothing. When we cannot find hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes, we lack nothing. When we cannot dine in at our favorite restaurant or hug our friends, we lack nothing. When the enemy says we are nothing, we lack nothing. The creator of the universe, took the time to intricately make each of us. You are not a mistake. Any words that do not line up what God says about you are not true. You are a child of the king. Always remember that even on your worst day. May the word of God wash over you and remind you of your greatness and inheritance as a child of God. May God bless you and keep you safe and healthy during this time and always.
