Can you believe today is the final day of 2020’s first quarter? I do not know about you, but 2020 has blindsided me in more ways than one. I will say I am standing only because of God and his faithfulness. This year and the last several months have personally been a valley experience for me but God is so good. I can honestly say that I have not finished my 2020 goals. I have taken some courageous and necessary steps to move forward. I want to encourage you during this mandatory pause to finish setting your 2020 goals. If you already have goals, this is a great time to review and revamp them as needed. Bravo to everyone who has already set their goals. I am proud of you.
I see goal setting as an opportunity to guide and plan our upcoming year and beyond. It is one thing to know what you want but without a plan, it makes it difficult to accomplish your goal. So where should you start? Since the majority of us have extra time in our schedule, we should take time to ponder and search our hearts. What are some things that you have been talking about doing but have not taken one step forward? This is a good time to not only take one step forward but also setup a plan to take multiple steps to accomplish your goals. There will be trial and error but the key is to move from the sidelines and into the game.
I want to also leave you with some priceless advice: be gracious toward yourself. I think sometimes, we can be our worst critic. As we continue on this journey of life, let us make a decision to be gracious toward ourselves so we can be gracious toward everyone. In this critical time in our history, let us make a decision to walk in love, grace, mercy and understanding. We are all in a mandatory pause at once. We will get beyond this sooner than we think. In the meantime, we are going to use this time to rest, relax and come up higher in our goals. Here is to us coming out of this mandatory pause better than before and living our lives to the fullest.
