“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”-Psalm 23:1
During this time when our headlines are saturated with words such as Cornovirus or COVID-19, Clorox wipes, Lysol disinfectant spray, quarantine, shelter in place and more, it can be easy to become overwhelmed and fearful. As human beings, it is natural to have these feelings. Yes it is normal for us to be disappointed, heartbroken, confused, and more. The key is to center ourselves in the word of God. This moment in our world can be considered a valley. God did not cause the pandemic but he is our answer and solution. God is always our answer and will keep us.
In today’s scripture reading, David reminded all of us of an important fact. When we have God, we have everything we need. If we need courage, God has it. Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation-so why should I be afraid?” If we need rest and clarity, God has it. Matthew 11:28 says, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” If we need to need reassurance, God has it. Psalm 91:3 says, “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.” Anything we need, God has it for us. The key is to remember that we are children of God.
We don’t have to beg God for anything. As his children, he has already given it to us. Anything God has, he has already deposited it into us. We just need to allow God to remind us of what he has already deposited into us. During this time, I would encourage you to read Psalms 23, 27 and 91 daily. These passages will encourage you during this time. Stay strong and know that God loves us more than we can imagine or comprehend. Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
