Quiet Your Haters With Silence

29 Year Old NFL Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck retired on Saturday. He planned to retire on Sunday but his decision was leaked to the media early during the Colts’ preseason game.  Social media was lit up with people who were surprised, happy and supportive of Andrew’s decision. There were also other people who were upset, angry and even booed him during the end of the preseason game. As a Baltimore Ravens fan and woman of God, I wish Andrew and his family the very best.  Andrew’s retirement is a reminder how haters and critics will come out of the woodwork to express their invalid opinion.

Silence is sometimes time best response to haters. It does not matter how many facts you stack up against your critics and haters, they may never change their mind about you and your destiny. Sometimes, you must walk away and not say a word. I know that is easier said than done but you must mindful of how you use your time. Time can be an investment or waste depending on how we use it. If we get worked up about every person who is critical about us, we are losing precious time that could be invested in the people who love us.

I remember how I used to be criticized about my writing and I would take it to heart. I remember how I stayed off social media for a season because of some of the hateful and critical language used against me. I then thought to myself, why would I allow a couple people ruin my destiny and my life because of their invalid and useless opinion? So now, I have developed tough skin and boundaries. If someone is too toxic for my space and realm, I have no problem using the block button or walking away.

We are too precious to allow any words in our space and realm.  There is nothing wrong with expressing your tasteful opinion in a tasteful manner. When you express your opinion with malicious intent and purpose, that is unacceptable and you need to take a step back. You need to take a step back to ask yourself, why are you so upset? Let’s decide to surround ourselves with people who line up with our destinies and purposes. I wish you a life full of peace beyond your comprehension.
