Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”-1 Peter 5:6-10

Happy Friday! Can you believe today is the second to last Friday in August? Summer is winding down and we will be shortly talking about autumn, leaves, pumpkin spice and more. As we continue to savor summer, life does not take a break. I know we have moments in our journey that are discouraging,  exhausting,  heartbreaking,  as well as joyful, restorative and  more. Whatever your journey looks like now, I want to encourage you to hand it over to God. James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will, lift you up.”

This is not about being in the valley, on the mountaintop or in between on your life journey. We should give every person, place or thing to God daily. God knows our lives and us better than anyone else. He loves us too much to leave us the same. So, who or what do you need to hand over to God? This will never be a one-time event. This is something we should be doing daily. It could be our words, thoughts, ourselves, someone else, a problem, a blessing and much more. Whatever it is know that nothing is too hard for our God and his hands are so mighty. Isaiah 40:29 says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Remember, God knows us individually and he is with each of us at the same time. So while someone is experiencing grief and someone else is getting married, God is with both people at the same time. He knows us each so well and sometimes we just need to sit in his presence while reading or listening to our Bible, worship music or a sermon to encourage and reassure us of our value. Something does not have to be wrong for us to seek God’s face. Just like any other relationship, you must invest time into the relationship for it to grow and flourish. When we rest in him, we our activating and exercising our faith. May God give you plenty of rest this upcoming weekend.
