Yesterday, I noticed the Google Doodle of the day looked very modern. I clicked on it and saw that Arantza Pene Popo was the Doodle for Google 2019-US Winner. She won for her picture entitled Once you get it, give it back. The doddle shows a framed picture of Arantza’s mom holding her as a baby. Then below the framed picture is Arantza taking care of her mom when she is older.  Arantza will be getting a $30,000 college scholarship and her high school will be getting a $50,000 technology package. Arantza won out of 222,000 students.  She said this doodle was a dedication to her mother. You can see Arantza’s winning doddle by clicking here. Congratulations Arantza!

Mothers are essential to our society. Aside from the fact that none of us would be here without them, they are the heartbeat to our society. They wipe away our tears and lend us their shoulders to cry on for free. They cook and feed us the best meals. They love us unconditionally. They show us how to be strong amid heartbreak, disappointment and confusion. They give us solicited and unsolicited advice. They show us how to be a boss lady in the office and at home. They show us how to hustle and still be kind and caring. They bring peace to the storms that try to take us out. They put aside their dreams so that we can thrive.

Some people may have not had the best mother. I hope that there are women in your life who can nurture and express a mother’s love to you on a regular basis. I also know some people are mourning their mothers. I hope that you will take comfort in the cherished times that you had with your mother. So, to every mother, grandmother and every woman who has ever participated in the rearing and nurturing of a child or children, we salute and thank you.
