I have not been to the beach in 14 years. I summed it up to being busy. Then last week I took inventory and realized my schedule had nothing to do with why I have not gone to the beach. I was afraid of being on a beach in a bathing suit. I have not always liked my body even when I was deemed perfect by society. I know now that I am very beautiful. I am not just talking about just my physical looks but I am talking about my soul, heart, personality and so much more. God has healed me of a lot of past hurts, mistakes, disappointments and much more. People have spoken and done very awful things to me but I am not what they said about me. I am not what was done to me. I may not have the perfect body but this body is mine and I love it.
This summer, my bold summer challenge is I am going to the beach. I will be going bathing suit shopping for the first time in more than a decade. I am buying three bathing suits. I plan to go to the beach at least three times this summer. I am not only going to go to the beach but take pictures of myself and blog about it. I am going to share my shopping experience and actual day at the beach with all of you. I have decided that I am not living a timid life on the sidelines anymore. I have allowed 14 summers pass by and on Labor Day, I would realize that I have not been to the beach. I want to live a bold and fearless life. I want to live a life without regrets.
I am letting you know because I want you to hold me accountable. Also, I want to you take a moment and take inventory of your life. You do not have to do it publicly. Is there something that you have put off doing because of fear or shame? Have you been listening too long to what society or other people have said to you? It is time for us to walk in healing and live bold and fearless lives today. Let’s live a life without regrets. I know I said when I get back to my ideal weight, I will go to the beach. Now, my perspective is so different.
So what are you doing this summer that is fearless and bold to you? It does not have to be fearless or bold to anyone else. It can be anything. Whatever you decide to do, remember that no one can judge you. If you want to do so, please free to share your bold summer challenge in the comments. I am excited for us. I can wait to hear about the things that we conquered this summer. Our summer is going to be unforgettable, bold and fearless. Here is to our #BoldSummerChallenge.
