Wimbledon’s All England Club has been busy. Wimbledon concludes on Sunday but there is still plenty of tennis to be played. There are four men playing today for two spots in Sunday’s final. American John Isner is playing South African Kevin Anderson who beat eight time and 2017 champion, Roger Federer earlier this week. This is Isner’s first career major semifinal and this is Anderson’s first Wimbledon semifinal which comes on the heels of his first major final appearance at last year’s U.S. Open. The other semifinal is between two former Wimbledon champions, Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic. Nadal just won his 11th career French Open Championship in May and Djokovic just came off an elbow injury and this is his first semifinal appearance all year. If you are planning to watch this game later, set you DVR for a few hours. These two have battled in matches that have lasted many hours.
Moving to the ladies side, Saturday’s Breakfast at Wimbledon presented by Panera Bread will feature a rematch of the 2016 ladies’s final between American Serena Williams and German Angelique Kerber. Williams is appearing in her first major final since becoming a wife and mom. Williams also dealt pregnancy complications and injuries. Serena’s win will tie her with Margaret Court with 24 major titles, the most in the open area. Kerber won the Australian Open and US Open in 2016. She is coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the French Open in May. This promises to be a great match. Make yourself a nice breakfast and enjoy both matches on Saturday and Sunday. You can enhance your experience by ordering a Panera Bread breakfast to go or have it delivered. Click here for a location near you. Any egg white sandwich or a cinnamon crunch bagel has my name on it paired with a large iced green tea.
So make sure that you set aside some time or set your dvr for the remaining matches of 2018’s Wimbledon and have a wonderful time.
